Allentown double shooting ruled murder-suicide, coroner says

The shooting deaths of two Syrian-Americans on Sunday in Allentown have been officially ruled a murder-suicide, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office said today.
Authorities said Sunday that Mouwaffak L. Makhoul, 51, of the 400 block of North Front Street in Allentown, shot and killed Etab Makhoul, 36, at her home in the 1900 block of East Greenleaf Street in Allentown.
Coroner Scott Grim pronounced Etab Makhoul dead at 9:31 a.m. and Mouwaffak Makhoul dead at 9:32 a.m. The shootings occurred about 8:51 a.m. outside the home, Grim said.
Each died of a gunshot wound, Grim said following autopsies this morning. He ruled Etab Makhoul's death a homicide and the manner of Mouwaffak Makhoul's death, suicide.
Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said Sunday the two were either divorced or estranged.
